NACARA
Permits certain Guatemalans, Salvadorans and nationals of former Soviet Bloc countries to apply for suspension of deportation or special rule cancellation of removal under standards similar to those that existed prior to the enactment of the September 1996 immigration law. The spouse, child, or unmarried son or daughter of a NACARA recipient may apply as derivative beneficiaries if they meet certain conditions. The discretionary benefit, if granted, permit an individual subject to deportation or removal to remain in the US as lawful permanent resident.
