Citizenship and Classes

The process by which a lawful permanent resident becomes a citizen is called naturalization.

Advantages of becoming a US citizen:
    • Right to vote.
    • Right to hold public office and certain federal and state government jobs.
    • Can petition more family members.
    • A US citizen cannot be deported.
    • A US citizen can live in another country as long as they want.
    • A US citizen can receive social security benefits overseas.
